I tried to sign up for the annual plan today, and I ran into a problem where I couldn’t complete the payment via PayPal. It was rejecting all my registered cards. It took me a while to understand what was happening, but in the end I realized that the rejection was due to Cornix’s auto-renewal.

But why wasn’t it accepting?

All my cards added to PayPal are debit cards, and that’s why PayPal wouldn’t authorize the transaction. This makes sense, after all, auto-renewal services would only work with a credit card.

In my country, it’s practically impossible to use the credit card abroad, due to the high tax rates.

Therefore, I suggest that Cornix let the customer choose whether they prefer automatic renewal, and that they don’t prevent us from continuing with the payment if we don’t select this option. And that they also explain at the time of signing up about the payment options for debit and credit cards.

To conclude, this incident didn’t come cheap for me. In addition to being exhausting, it was also very expensive. I had to transfer funds between accounts, make conversions, and transactions that generated currency exchange costs, making it almost not worth subscribing, much less taking advantage of the Black Friday discount.

But in the end, I was able to pay with my debit card through Paypal, thanks to the excellent service provided by Cornix support.
